Fat Transfer | Breast
Women who are dissatisfied with the size of their breasts or have experienced changes in their breast appearance can achieve fuller, shapelier breasts with a fat transfer. Traditional breast augmentation surgery does not appeal to everyone. Many women seek a more natural way to enhance their breast size through fat transfer. Fat transfer involves the removal of unwanted fat from one area of the body while adding volume to another area.
The first step of surgery involves fat harvesting. At this time, liposuction is performed on areas of the body where there is excess fat. This usually includes the abdomen, flanks, inner and outer thighs and back. The goal of liposuction is to acquire enough fat from the body so that it can be injected into the breasts. This is typically around 200 – 500ml for each breast.
Once the fat is harvested, it is then processed sterilely and injected into areas of the breast to add shape and volume. The amount of fat that is transferred depends on the desired size.
Fat transfer to the breast is performed the in operating room under general anesthesia. Recovery time is generally 3-5 days.
