Rhinoplasty, also known as nose surgery or a nose job, is performed to reshape, soften or augment a person’s nose.*
In some cases, nose surgery can also be done to correct an injury, birth defect or breathing problems and may even be covered by insurance. For example, patients may seek out nose surgery if they suffered a broken nose that does not heal correctly or if their breathing is affected due to a deviated septum.*
There are two commonly used techniques in rhinoplasty: open and closed. Small incisions are made at the base of the nose during an open rhinoplasty whereas incisions are made within the nostrils during a closed rhinoplasty.
In both techniques, skin around the nose is lifted, bone and cartilage is carefully sculpted, and skin is redraped over the nose and stitched closed.
This procedure is performed under general anesthesia in our onsite surgery center.
Recovery time is typically 1-2 weeks.
