WHAT IS KYBELLA®?
Are you self-conscious, unhappy or embarrassed by fat under your chin? Do you feel that your profile makes you look older or heavier than you actually are? Does the idea of surgery not appeal to you? Kybella® is an increasingly popular FDA-approved treatment for stubborn submental fat. This treatment is a fast, minimally invasive way to treat this area by creating an ideal balance in the face and neck.
HOW DOES KYBELLA® WORK?
The key ingredient in Kybella® is deoxycholic acid. This is a naturally occurring molecule in your body that aids in the breakdown of dietary fat. Once Kybella® is injected, the molecule permanently breaks down the fat cells and prevents the area from storing fat in the future. By decreasing submental fat with Kybella®, chin-face balance is restored.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING A KYBELLA PROCEDURE?
No anesthesia is required for your Kybella® treatment. The entire procedure takes only a few minutes. After cleaning and marking the area, tiny amounts of product are injected into the fat. Patients often sense warmth in the area followed by redness and swelling.
WHAT OTHER AREAS CAN KYBELLA® TREAT?
Kybella® can be used throughout the body for minimally invasive fat reduction. Common off-label areas include jowls, bra fat and abdominal fat.
HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
Kybella® usually requires at least two or three treatments to achieve maximal results, depending on the amount of fat present.* Our medical staff will work with you to determine the treatment plan that best suits your unique needs. Treatment sessions are typically spaced one month apart.
HOW LONG IS RECOVERY TIME FROM A KYBELLA PROCEDURE?
Numbness, bruising, redness and swelling should be expected in the first few days following Kybella® treatment. This typically resolves in a week. Patients who have more submental fat should expect to have more swelling and downtime.
HOW MUCH DOES KYBELLA® COST?
A single session of Kybella® is around $1200 to $1800 depending on the size of the treated area. Most men and women will need at least two treatments (sometimes three or more) for best results. We can recommend services like CareCredit and Alphaeon for easy payment for one or more of your treatments over time. Or, many of our patients also choose to apply for credit cards with longer terms at 0% interest.
