WHAT IS A NECK LIFT?
A neck lift (lower rhytidectomy) targets loose neck muscles that create the appearance of drooping skin or banding. This procedure can dramatically change the contour of the jawline and smoothen the texture of the skin. During a neck lift, skin and muscles are tightened and then excess skin is removed. This procedure can be combined with a facelift to rejuvenate the lower face, a brow lift to correct sagging or wrinkles in the brow, fat transfer to create fuller lips and cheeks and blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) to rejuvenate aging eyes.
The purpose of the neck lift is to remove fat and excess skin from the neck in order to reduce age-related neck wrinkles and creasing. This can give you a much more youthful appearance on its own, with even more dramatic results when combined with a facelift or other facial skin rejuvenation procedures.
HOW DOES A NECK LIFT WORK?
A neck lift procedure is typically performed as an outpatient procedure at our AAAASF surgery center under general anesthesia or intravenous sedation. Dr. Boudreault will make an incision behind each ear. Depending on your needs, he may also make a third small incision underneath the chin. Through these incisions, he will tighten the neck muscles and/or underlying tissues and remove excess, sagging skin to restore a smoother, firmer, and more youthful appearance to the neck.
When you come to our facility, Dr. Boudreault will take pictures of your neck and discuss with you what your goals are and the potential challenges of the procedure. When the procedure begins, you will be placed under general anesthesia so that the doctor can make the necessary incisions. Dr. B then gently lifts the muscles of the neck to reveal excess skin and fat, which he removes. He will then sew the incisions shut and add a pressure dressing around your head to facilitate healing. The whole process takes only a few hours.
HOW LONG IS RECOVERY TIME?
Recovery time is five to seven days, after which time sutures can be removed. You may feel tightness in the neck after the procedure, as well as experiencing some bruising, which will fade within a couple of weeks.
HOW SOON WILL I SEE RESULTS?
You should see results right away, with the effects most noticeable after a couple of weeks when all the bruising has faded and the sutures have come out. To ensure the best results, some patients opt for post-operative care. Solos Concierge Nursing Overnight Care provides professional nursing care after your surgery which can make recovery easier and gentler on you. If you are getting more than one surgery at the same time, we highly recommend you ask us about post-operative care options, as post-operative care is required for surgeries lasting more than five hours.
The cost of a neck lift can vary depending upon how much work is required, but the average neck lift is usually between $5,000 and $8,000. If you would like to have your neck lift now, but may for it in smaller monthly increments over time, we offer financing options for our patients through CareCredit or Alphaeon. Many of our patients may choose to apply for credit cards with longer terms at 0% interest.
