Tattoo Removal With PicoSure Laser

The PicoSure® system is currently our preferred treatment option. This powerful picosecond laser uses powerful PressureWave technology to break up tattoo ink and deliver fast-acting results. PicoSure® works in tandem with your body by breaking up ink and allowing your immune system to naturally clear it. The result of each session is a gradual fading of the image.

PicoSure® Tattoo Removal Procedure

Tattoo removal with the PicoSure® laser is completed in a series of treatments spaced about 8-12 weeks apart. The length of the session depends on your specific tattoo. Most small tattoos can be addressed in an hour or less. The procedure itself does involve some discomfort. Most patients describe the procedure as somewhat like getting the tattoo in the first place. The feeling of pressure may generate some mild discomfort in some patients, but it is generally quite tolerable.

Treatment Results

Tattoo removal with PicoSure® may yield some immediate results. However, as with other laser skin treatments, multiple sessions will be required for best results. We generally schedule three to five treatments, each spaced six to eight weeks apart. With each treatment, more and more tattoo clearance will be experienced. How many total treatments you will need may vary, but you will almost certainly need fewer treatments than you would with an ordinary tattoo removal laser.
