The CoolPeel™ is the only CO2 device that has the ability to deliver an ablative treatment without causing thermal damage to the tissue. Unlike most ablative lasers, which remove the top layer of the skin and usually entail a week of downtime, the CoolPeel™ treatment has a super short pulse duration that creates a controlled injury with less heat buildup in the skin. This results in less redness, flaking and peeling afterward. In addition to extremely short pulse times that prevent thermal damage to the skin, the laser also has a unique “spray” pattern that shortens the overall treatment time. The average Palo Alto CoolPeel™ treatment takes five to ten minutes to perform, while other ablative laser treatments can take up to two hours.
CoolPeel™ treatment settings can be titrated for a patient’s desired downtime. Generally, the more downtime associated with a treatment, the more dramatic the results. Further, more aggressive treatments need fewer sessions. CoolPeel™ treatments with little-to-no downtime should be performed in a series of three to four sessions, while more aggressive treatments will yield results in one to two sessions. Our Palo Alto med spa practitioners are trained to safely choose settings for two, three, four and five-days of downtime based on your skin type.
The Palo Alto CoolPeel™ can be used safely on all skin types. Darker skin types require more precautionary measures and expertise. Our Nurse Practitioner Molly specializes in the treatment of ethnic skin and is an excellent resource for patients with skin of color.
CoolPeel™ treatments are performed without anesthesia or with numbing cream. Patients tolerate the procedure very well with little to no discomfort.
Most patients report dramatic improvement in their skin within ten days after treatment. Full results from the CoolPeel™ laser are seen in 3-4 months.
Patients may experience skin tightening from the laser. Our aesthetic care providers will often recommend combining the treatment with RF microneedling treatments like Vivace™ for optimal results.
In the week following treatment, the skin will have a rough, sandpapery texture. We recommend using gentle cleansers, moisturizer and sunscreen during this time. After one week, it is safe to exfoliate the skin. Many patients choose to undergo a HydraFacial treatment at this time to remove excess debris from the laser treatment.
While each CoolPeel in Palo Alto costs about $900 for one treatment, you and the doctor may decide that multiple treatments are warranted. This means that your total cost would be around $900 multiplied by the number of treatments you end up having performed. If you are interested in spreading out your payments over time, we are happy to recommend options like CareCredit and Alphaeon for added financial flexibility.
