Similar to a fat transfer to the breasts, a fat transfer to the buttocks is a multi-step procedure that relocates unwanted fat to areas where added volume is desired. Dr. Boudreault removes fat from selected areas of the body with power-assisted liposuction using the S.A.F.E. technique, processes the harvested fat, and then carefully transfers it into targeted areas of the buttocks using expansion vibration lipofilling (E.V.L.) to enhance contour, shape and projection.
The entire three-step process is performed by Dr. Boudreault at our San Jose or Palo Alto plastic surgery center under general anesthesia. Generally, Dr. Boudreault collects fat from areas such as the back, abdomen, flanks, arms or thighs. The goal is to contour the donor areas while harvesting enough viable fat to create the desired changes in the buttocks.
He often targets fat in the midsection to create a narrower waist and improve the hip-to-waist ratio. During the final stage, the prepared fat is transferred into the buttocks. Dr. Boudreault can fill hollow areas along the outer buttock and add volume centrally to increase projection, while creating gradual transitions from the back to the buttocks and from the buttocks to the thighs.
Recovery from Brazilian Butt Lift surgery in San Jose or Palo Alto typically involves about two weeks of initial downtime. You may experience post-operative discomfort, swelling, or bruising, which should gradually improve.
