HydraFacial Palo Alto

What is HydraFacial?

HydraFacial is a procedure that combines cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration and antioxidant protection simultaneously, resulting in clearer, more vibrant skin with little to no downtime. The treatment is soothing, moisturizing and generally non-irritating. Unlike microdermabrasion, HydraFacial can also infuse anti-oxidants, alpha hydroxy acids, beta hydroxy acids, hyaluronic acid and more into the skin.

The HydraFacial starts off by prepping the skin without the use of pore-softening steam, which can sometimes exacerbate redness and sensitivity by dilating blood vessels in the skin. Instead, HydraFacial clears dead skin cells, loosens pores and primes them for extraction by infusing the skin with glycolic acid, salicylic acid and botanical extracts. Then, when it’s time for extractions themselves, manual squeezing and lancing of the skin is bypassed for a unique vacuum-powered extraction, which hurts far less than poking

Both of these actions are done using a cleverly designed treatment wand that contains a double-helixed vortex. One chamber draws dead skin cells and dirt out of the skin, while the other simultaneously pumps skin-soothing nutrients like hyaluronic acid, vitamin c, skin lighteners and growth factors into freshly-cleared pathways for deeper penetration.

What conditions will HydraFacial treat?

The HydraFacial will improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, congested and enlarged pores and oily or acne-prone skin. It will also aid in the removal of hyperpigmentation or age spots. It is a treatment that is suitable for most skin types, including thin or aging skin and darker skin types.

What else do we use HydraFacial for at Illuminate?

HydraFacial is an inexpensive, no-downtime way to improve the appearance of the skin. It can also be used with more invasive cosmetic treatments to enhance results and decrease downtime. Our medical team will often recommend a series of HydraFacial treatments prior to fractional ablative and non-ablative lasers, energy-based devices like IPL, Ultherapy or radiofrequency and surgery.

When should I expect to see results?

Many patients report having visible improvement in their skin after just one treatment. If you are hoping to achieve more dramatic improvements in your skin, it is best to schedule monthly sessions.
