WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING MY CELLFINA® TREATMENT?
Prior to your Cellfina® treatment, Dr. Boudreault will carefully mark all areas of concern. Once the treated areas have been established and isolated, the doctor will clean and prep the areas for sterility. When the treatment begins, patients will feel a suction-like sensation followed by a tiny needle poke where Dr. Boudreault administers local numbing medication. Most patients express that they feel little to nothing once the areas have been anesthetized. In most cases, Dr. Boudreault can treat around twenty-five cellulite dimples in an hour.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER MY CELLFINA® TREATMENT?
Patients will likely experience oozing of numbing medication mixed with small amounts of blood from tiny incisions. This usually continues for the first 24 hours after treatment. During this time, we recommend that patients wear compression garments (Spanx) stuffed with absorbing pads. Once oozing has subsided, some swelling and bruising are anticipated which may last 1-2 weeks.
The treated area will probably be sore for the first week. There may be a few, smaller areas that will be tender for longer. Patients do not typically require narcotic pain medicine post-treatment. Tylenol works perfectly fine.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED?
For most, only a single treatment is necessary. Occasionally, patients may have a few stubborn dimples following their initial treatment. These can be managed with a minor treatment touchup.
HOW SOON WILL I SEE RESULTS?
Results can be seen in as little as three days,* however, patients should expect to see bruising and swelling for about two weeks. In a pivotal study, patient satisfaction with Cellfina® was 85 percent at three months, 94 percent at one year, 96 percent at two years and 93 percent at three years, surpassing the patient satisfaction rates of other leading cellulite treatments.*
ARE THE RESULTS PERMANENT?
Cellfina treats cellulite dimpling at the source – the tethering septae below the skin. Because Cellfina® treats the actual mechanism responsible for cellulite, it is more permanent and more effective than other external skin treatments like lasers.* The treatment is clinically proven to reduce the appearance of cellulite for at least three years.*
HOW MUCH DOES CELLFINA® COST?
While the cost of Cellfina® can vary per individual, you can usually expect to pay between $3500 and $6500 for Cellfina®, with the average cost being somewhere in the neighborhood of $4250 per treatment. Dr. B can discuss the cost of your specific treatment with you during your consultation, and we have credit services like CareCredit and Alphaeon that we can recommend to allow you to pay for your treatment in convenient installments over time if that is your preference. Additionally, many of our patients will choose to apply for credit cards with longer terms at 0% interest.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
DOES THE TREATMENT LEAVE VISIBLE SCARS?
-
Cellfina® uses a single needle-poke for treatment of each cellulite dimple. Most of these areas heal without being visible. However, there is a small risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), particularly among darker skin types. PIH presents as darkening of the skin at these puncture sites. PIH is temporary and will resolve slowly over time.
If a patient is at high risk, they can be pre-treated with hydroquinone, a skin lightening cream, to decrease their response. Lasers like IPL or fractional resurfacing are also helpful post-treatment.
-
WILL MY RESULTS CHANGE WITH WEIGHT LOSS OR WEIGHT GAIN?
-
Since Cellfina® treats the root cause of cellulite, results are not likely affected by weight changes. However, it is well known that patients who are heavier also tend to have more cellulite, so it is in your best interest to maintain a stable weight after your treatment.
