What is Ozone Therapy?
When introduced into the body, ozone gas can be a powerful tool against inflammation, infection and autoimmune disease. Ozone therapy disrupts unhealthy body processes, by improving the body’s intake and use of oxygen to activate the immune system.
What is Ozone?
Ozone is an alternate version of oxygen. Oxygen in the air we breathe is comprised of two oxygen molecules attached together, O2. Ozone is an activated form of oxygen, where there are actually three atoms of oxygen attached together, O3. O3 is far more energetic and oxidative than oxygen, which is what makes it so valuable.
Ozone gas is generated from oxygen. When administered into your body, it saturates your tissues with oxygen to reduce inflammation, regulate the immune system and promote healing. It is also toxic to bacteria and fungi but harmless to normal cells.
While there are several different techniques to administer ozone, a technique called major autohemotherapy (MAH) allows for ozone to mix with your own blood in an IV. This is the most direct way to administer the gas.
Ozone therapy can be helpful for a wide variety of infections, autoimmune disease, respiratory and cardiovascular issues, as well as wound healing.
Is ozone therapy safe?
Ozone therapy has a proven safety record. Treatment with ozone gas does not have side effects like many prescription drugs which can cause severe, irreversible organ damage and other deleterious effects.
