Getting your health back on track & goal setting

Getting your health back on track & goal setting

Happy New Year! This is the best time to get your health back on track after the holidays and start setting some realistic health & wellness goals.

Feeling a little bloated, unhealthy and maybe just less “in shape” than usual is extremely common in the month of January. You are not alone! Hopefully, it means you had a happy holiday season and indulged in all your favorite food & drinks and spent quality time with the people you love. Now it’s time to get back on track and look & feel your best.

I’ve given just a few of my favorite tips below and will be discussing these at the next #WellnessWednesday event. Come and have a juice with me & bring all your questions! We will be discussing how to set realistic goals without feeling frustrated and deprived & I’ll be giving some simple tips that will keep you accountable. I will also provide food & drink recommendations and there’ll be some fun giveaways. So, bring a friend and let’s kick off 2020 in a positive way.

Tip 1: Drink Half Your Body Weight in Ounces of Water

I’ve said it before, and I’ll keep saying it. Water is the absolute best way to flush out toxins, can boost your metabolism by as much as 7% and keep your skin glowing.

Tip 2: Make Half Your Plate Fruits and Vegetables

The other half should be a good quality protein and maybe some grains, but it can also be whatever you want. As long as you have half your plate with nutrient-dense fruits and veggies you will be crowding out most of the junk.

Tip 3: Set a Weekly Goal

This can be anything that makes you feel good & is good for you. Maybe it’s meditating every morning, maybe it’s working out 3 times a week. Whatever it is, write it down and stick to it. You will be so proud of yourself at the end of each week.

Tip 4: Use the 80/20 Rule

Try to eat clean and healthy around 80% of the time. Make a commitment that Monday-Thursday will be full of health-promoting foods and then reward yourself with something you love on Friday. Again, you will feel proud of yourself for making it to Friday and you’ll look & feel physically great.

Tip 5: Detox Your Life

I’m not just talking about food. Surround yourself with people that lift you up and are supportive of your goals and dreams. Unfollow people on social media that make you feel like crap. Identify your healthiest friend/friends and spend more time with them. Studies have shown that you are most likely to take on the habits of the people you surround yourself with most often. Choose wisely ☺
