WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING MY PHOTOREJUVENATION (IPL) TREATMENT?
We recommend that patients start by applying topical numbing cream before treatment. Once the skin is anesthetized, the cream is removed and the treatment begins. Both you and your provider will wear protective eyewear while the device is moved against your skin to deliver light. Some people describe the sensation as snapping or heating, but it is very tolerable. The typical IPL treatment will last about 20 minutes.
HOW LONG IS RECOVERY TIME FROM PHOTOREJUVENATION (IPL)?
Immediately after an IPL treatment, the face will appear red and swollen for a few days. Pigmented lesions will become darker and flake off over the next week.
CAN IPL PHOTOREJUVENATION BE PERFORMED ON ALL SKIN TYPES?
The short answer is no. Darker skin types are not ideal candidates for this treatment due to their heightened risk for complications such as burns, scars, post-inflammatory skin darkening or lightening.
HOW SOON WILL I SEE RESULTS FROM PHOTOREJUVENATION (IPL)?
Most patients benefit from a series of IPL treatments. Within a few sessions, you can expect to have a more even skin tone and a decreased appearance of pigment and redness. Full results from treatment are seen several weeks after your last session.
HOW MUCH DOES PHOTOREJUVENATION (IPL) COST?
A benefit to IPL photorejuvenation is that it is more cost-effective than other light-based treatments. A single session will run you about $550. Results are best when the treatment is performed in a series. Keep in mind that we can recommend some great options for convenient paying overtime for your photorejuvenation treatment, like CareCredit and Alphaeon. Many of our patients will choose to apply for credit cards with longer terms at 0% interest.
